Alignment to ELCC standard #1 The school vision and learning assignment is used by the instructor as the culminating assessment of the introductory course Foundations of Educational Leadership to determine if candidates possess the content knowledge of theoretical foundations of research based leadership theories and professional leadership skills needed to: A. Collaboratively develop, articulate, implement and steward a shared district vision of learning for a school or school district. (ELCC element 1.1). B. Understand, collect and use data to identify district goals, assess organizational effectiveness and implement district plans to achieve district goals. (ELCC element 1.2) C. Promote continual and sustainable district improvements. (ELCC element 1.3) D. Understand and evaluate district progress and revise district plans supported by stakeholders. (ELCC element 1.4).

It is recommended that you meet with a school district or school administrator to discuss district vision statements and aligning data to the school or district vision. You could also discuss strategies that the district uses to ensure continual improvement and communication options as outlined by the four areas of the rubric. Set up four distinct sub-sections for your paper. Content can be in both a narrative and bulleted format. The use of charts and visuals is encouraged. A. Section 1 – ELCC 1.1: (3-4 pages) Candidates understand and can collaboratively develop, articulate, implement and steward a shared vision of learning. 1. Provide a district or school vision statement. 2. Provide evidence of leadership skills and processes that will engage stakeholders in a visioning process.

Provide and cite multiple research-based processes for using data collected to drive decision making that assesses the vision of learning. C. Section 3 – ELCC 1.3: (1-2pages) Candidates understand and can promote continual sustainable school improvement. 1. Provide and strategies, models, rubrics, or practices that are that support continual improvement and align with the vision. 2. Provide evidence of multiple data sources that candidate will use to ensure that the district learning vision is sustainable. D. Section 4 – ELCC 1.4: (1 to 2 pages) Candidates understand and can evaluate school progress and revise school plans supported by school stakeholders. 1. Provide evidence of strategies the candidate will use to monitor and revise the vision to align with district learning goals. 2. Provide evidence that will effectively communicate revisions to vision based on input from community and district stakeholders. E. Other: 1.
