The Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act

For the final paper, select a public health goal where community health used a school-based
program to help meet its objectives. Explain how the school program works and evaluate its
effectiveness in meeting the public health goal. Topics may address: Planned Parenthood,
childhood obesity, immunizations, bullying, healthy families, etc.
Consider the following questions or prompts as you select a focus for your paper:
1) Have you or your child received immunizations or a health screening at a school?
2) Should birth control and/or condoms be made freely available to school-aged students?
3) Have you or your child ever attended a third-party production at a school that focused on a
public or community health related issue, e.g., how to deal with a bully; how to eat healthfully;
how to properly brush your teeth, etc.?
4) Does your local school host a voting poll, especially when an important bond initiative is on
the ballot that affects children and their families?
Your paper should meet the following criteria:
Three scholarly sources (Wikipedia is not an academic source)
Three to five pages in length (not including title page and references)
Double-spaced
APA citation of sources
