Write your Analysis of Rhetoric, for the attached speech (Obama\’s November 7, 2007, speech on the \’American Dream\’). Try to write it from a foreigner perspective.
As you work on the analysis, remember that to analyze the speaker\’s rhetoric, you will need to closely examine his use of language and style. Remember to show and tell; incorporate direct quotes from the speech that demonstrate your point.
Remember to show what you mean by quoting from the speech, and to introduce and integrate your quotes into your writing. Make sure that everything you quote is relevant; only include the words/phrases that help you to support your point. Make use of ellipses where necessary.
Be sure to fully explain all of your examples. Good rule of thumb: for anything you include that they say, you say at least twice as much of your own analysis, interpretation, and argument.
Make sure that the essay fully addresses the task of the assignment, developing and defending a coherent and unified thesis about the use of rhetorical strategies in the text.
