Read the two essays on TV—Greenfield’s “Don’t Blame TV” (e-reserve) and Males’ “Stop Blaming Kids and TV” (posted as Blackboard link).i will upload them later. In an compare and contrast essay argue which piece would be better to use in a college composition class if only one were chosen
In making your choice for which essay to choose, you may use any criteria you wish. However you must be specific about what criteria you’re using; in other words, why is one essay better or weaker than the other? Give specific examples from the essays to support whatever point you’re trying to make; you’ll need some quotations from the essays to illustrate those points. Don’t personalize the essay; keep “I” to a minimum—avoid it completely if possible. You are Comparing/Contrasting the two pieces; you can’t focus on only one of the essays.
In addition, I want you to support your analysis with at least three outside sources. This need not involve extensive research. All I want is for you to add– in at least three places– something relevant that you obtained elsewhere. This fact, quote, etc. can be on either of the authors or on any aspect of the content of either essay. Make sure you give proper credit (a reference, quotation marks if necessary, etc.) and list the source in your works cited. (You’ll also need entries for the two TV essays.) Please also submit copies of any web pages, book pages, etc. from which you obtained information. Highlight the relevant passage with a marker and number the passage in the order you used it in the paper
