Career Development

Career Development
The paper discusses the issue of career development. I am interested in pursuing the mechanic career, and this is due to the fact that I am self driven and desire to work alone under minimal supervision. The career development centre is an effective institution that adequately assists students in selecting the correct career path. The centre greatly illustrated in details the benefits of the mechanics career, the appropriate career path, and the qualifications that a person requires so as to join the mechanics career. There are different categories of mechanics; for example, the heavy weights mechanics, and also the light weights mechanics. The heavy with works is usually done on the bigger machines such as trailers, and the light weight work is performed on smaller machines such as car engines.
Mechanics is a technically diverse profession, and hence the trainees are require to specialize in several areas; for instance, auto mechanics, motorcycle mechanics, industrial maintenance mechanics, aircraft mechanics, tank mechanics and also the refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics. The specialization that I am interested in pursuing is the auto mechanics. This is because it has several trades. The trades include the electrical aspects and also the mechanical aspects. The other areas of auto mechanics include; bakes and steering, engine maintenance and repair, understanding the customer complaints and enquiries, and the automatic and standard transmission. The auto technician thus has diverse topics to learn from. The mechanic is generally authorized to perform professional activities by the trade association, and in some cases the regional government agencies.
The mechanics is also important for the economy of the United States, because almost all sectors of the economy depend on the machines. The economic sectors thus illustrate increasing demands for the services of mechanics, especially in the areas machine installations, servicing, and repair. The professional development of mechanics is thus very critical. A successful mechanics career is as a result of the development processes that begin at the studying years in a technical learning institution. The mechanics career further develops on-the-job by networking, studies and research, on-the-job training, and also further professional education. The practicing mechanics usually illustrate two critical issues. The first issue is that present day mechanics are supposed to be more self reliant and self managed especially in the areas of planning and working. The second issue is that the employees get more say in the planning of their careers. Career planning is thus, not left on the hands of only the employers. Even if the mechanic identifies an appropriate company or job, he/she still needs to develop strategies for further succeeding in their careers.
The career enhancing methods of the employee mechanics are generally more effective, if the understand how to integrate properly with the surroundings. Extra efforts on training and experience enable the mechanics to get the right job. The mechanic is greatly in charge of managing the career in the period before and also after their initial promotion. From the very first day, the mechanic is supposed to understand the career options that are provided at the workplace. The options are usually diverse, but they comprise, career and work enhancing tasks. The mechanics must adequately find out the various work locations, and also the activities that must be done to strategically adopt the workplace opportunities.
Mechanics should thus take appropriate steps for managing their careers. They should continuously be available for the experienced and competent advisors and mentors. Mechanics should make the management of the entire company aware of their interests and competencies, and they should also think of how they can benefit from the new assignments in the mechanical engineering section and activities. The mechanics are required to embrace self examination, and relate it to the needs and interest of the organization they work for. This enables them to understand the big picture of the company, and the direction that the company is headed to. If the present employer does not offer the mechanic a suitable work environment, then an effectively planned and also appropriate job changes should act as an alternative mechanic career strategy. This career strategy ensures that the mechanic benefits from a broadened experience, and the enhancement in the position, authority, responsibility and remuneration involved. Majority of the mechanics obtain adequate understanding of their technical professions through the early stages of their career experiences. There are usually increased rates of job changes, during the initial 3-5 years, with the additional benefits of salary gains.
There is also the question concerning the duration that mechanics should take in their first employment. Research studies illustrate that an estimated 43% of the mechanics, continued to work for their original company after five years employment duration. 25% of the mechanics still worked for their second company. These changes are due to diverse reasons; for instance, mergers, performance levels of the company, and work environment. The mechanics are supposed to view their career as lifelong learning that will effectively be applied in properly adopting future technologies. This is because the key responsibility areas of the mechanics entails the application of the technology and processes applicable elsewhere to adopt the solutions to company projects. Thus, challenges are always there, especially in the areas of engineering and technological innovations. The mechanics profession illustrates that self driven learning, is an objective that occurs daily. Learning opportunities must be easily identified on the job by the analysis of company resources, mentors, training projects, and also the career advisors. The mechanics should also scan the outside company environments, for the resources generated in relation to the suppliers, technical organizations, professional development projects, extra studies and technical publications especially in the areas of automotive mechanics.
The continuous studies program for the mechanics job category is important especially in the area of career building program. During the early career stages, the technical qualification enables the mechanics to more competitive for management positions, and also ensure better remuneration. Faculty recommendations are also a significant factor in obtaining admission for the right mechanic program. Potential or aspiring mechanics should thus receive appropriate knowledge of the research and training assistants. The assistants are very useful when researching for mechanic job opportunities, which enhance the hands-on experience that are sought by all employing organizations. There is difference between the present job requirements and also the mid-long requirements in the area of career aspirations. The longer career aspiration requires understanding the licensing condition for technical staffs such as mechanics. Most engineering contracts and projects, requires the services of licensed technicians. Mechanics are also required to embrace adaptability at the workplace. This is the main reason why the mechanic training provides knowledge that is all-round and illustrates, content knowledge, problem solving competencies, and also the future learning capability.
