Summary:
According to some scientists in Brussels, the risks of using plastic containers are huge. There are chemicals in the products used by individuals like plastic drinking cans and water bottles, food that come in cling film, toothpaste, etc. According to U.S’s National Institute of Environmental Health Science, consumers should not heat the food in plastic containers as heat makes the poisonous chemical leak out. This chemical mixes with the food and makes it poisonous which can affect the health of individuals. These chemicals are the ‘endocrine-disrupting chemicals’ that can interfere with the way our glands make hormones which oversee almost everything our bodies do.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said that there are more than 800 of these chemicals that are used in large amounts everywhere — not just in the commodities, but also in the atmosphere and the nutrition chain.
Experts say that exposure to such chemicals can lead to diseases like cancer, childlessness, diabetes, early adolescence, fatness, asthma attacks, alzheimer, heart diseases, stroke and other educational disabilities.
The Endocrine Society said that BPA (a poisonous chemical) is one of the most tormenting substances that lead to obesity. This chemical is found in a number of commodities including refillable drinking bottles and plastic containers for storing food. This chemical damages the liver and kidney (Gornall, 2014).
