You work for an agency that offers advertising and marketing services. The agency has been approached by a private business college in Dublin, Capital College . The directors wish to spend to €150,000 on a promotional campaign to boost student recruitment . The College offers courses from level 5 to 9 , Validated of bodies including :
• { (QQI ) quality and qualification Ireland (for courses from level 5 -8)}
• Professional institutions {for professional diplomas and (CPD) continue progressing development courses from level 6-7}
• {A UK university (for courses at level 9) }
The college has 1,500 full and part-time students at level 5-9 ,and 1,000 part-time students in CDP courses at levels 6-7 . it has capacity (building, Staff, resources) for 3,500 students.
The Directors know that their main target markets are males and females in the Dublin region aged 18-25(for full –time courses ) and 30-50 (for part-time CPD). They appreciate the need to further segment these markets, and seek your advice in this matter.
The Directors consider the following points especially important :
Fees: Tax relief is available on full-time fees (which range from €1,500 to €6,000 ,depending on the type of the course) ; ten bursaries ,which cover full fees, are also available for students who excel in Level 8 courses who wish to progress to a level 9 programme.
Staff : the college recruits staff who are highly qualified subject specialist with experience in both industry and education.
Graduates : college graduates typically find employment in sales and marketing, HRM, Accounting, Retail, Management, Advertising, Hospitality management, Tourism Management and Business administration.
Internships : Partnerships with industry and Governing bodies mean that graduates can apply for one of 50 paid internships on completion of their level 8 degree.
Location: its city Centre location is ideal for students who commute from outside Dublin City.
The college has been in business for 20 years and has only recently seen as decline in numbers. Two directors are special about the need for this campaign and believe the money should be spent on developing new courses . Before you can present your campaign to the board, you will have to address these concerns in writing.
You should carry out a marketing analysis , examining the macro and micro environmental factors, and segmentation, targeting and positioning strategy for the college. Your proposal for the campaign must be budgeted, realistic, creative , and target the desired segments.
