guidelines for pharmacological management of neuropathic pain advise specialist involvement in prescribing of a number of medicines. yet in general community practice, patients can take these medicines without specialist input and review. what is the impact of not adhering to these guidelines and does the patient experience indicate that lack of specialist input and review are impacting on their pain control. this project uses qualitative research methods to investigate this issue. phenomenological analysis will be used for gaining patient prespectives.
