When I wrote the manual process I mean excel, since we launched a new system on 01/01/2012 and most of the tasks are through the new system except the end of service calculation (Final settlement). And the problem is that it’s a bit risky to transfer it to the new one with full integration of the new & old system. And we go back to the old one for the attendance before the launched day and all the action and allowance. Below is the problem statement in details but build on it and add the research objectives. If it will be in the new one it will be prepared by one click and we will be more of checker.

Problem Statement
The main problem that I will be studying is the manual process of the end of service calculation in Payroll Section and the time required to process the end of service. The Final settlement process or the end of service is calculated once the employee resigned, terminated or retired and it includes a very long procedures and cycle to go through. It takes long time to verify the employee’s attendance, the pay slip for the last year, the leave entitlement chart and the no demand certificates which are all received from different departments. The issue is not only in the manual calculation and entry but also in the SLA between the Human Resources Department and the Payroll Section which stated to finish the process and checking within 03 working days no matter how many cases you have. And such thing stress us and reduce our interest. I will support my study with some examples of how to calculate the end of service
Gratuity calculation
1. If the period of service is within a year – No Gratuity
2. More than a year: 21 days of Basic Salary for every year of service before 31.07.2007 & 30 days’ basic salary *per day wage stating from 01.08.2007.
Example:
1. Basic salary = AED 10,000 per month
2. Joining date = 01-01-2008
3. End date = 31-03-2011
4. Total number of years worked = 3.25 years or 03 years 03 months.
5. Total number of days @ rate 30 per year= 98 days
6. Gratuity Amount: 10,000/30*98 = Dhs.32,666.66
