Training Plan
Introduction
Training and development are a crucial exercise in an organization if it is to achieve its set objectives. Training is done to improve the skills of the workforce so as to increase their productivity. This research paper is a training plan for Landslide Limousines, which is a company that has just ventured into the limousine business.
Training Methods
Some methods will be used in this training and development program. The choice of the training method will depend on the type of task as well as the expected outcomes. The first method that will be used in this training is the lecture method where the trainees will be lectured on various aspects of the new venture. Such lectures will entail topics such as defensive driving, first aid skills as well as mannerism. The lecture method is only intended to be use in the introductory sessions but will usually be followed by other methods. The lecture method is also effective in teaching those topics that do not need practical skills such as human relations (Currie, 2009). The second method that will be used is demonstration methods. Both the trainers and the trainees will be required to demonstrate. The trainers will demonstrate what they have lectured while the trainees will later be required to as well demonstrate what their trainers have done. For example, after the trainers have lectured on the defensive driving techniques, they will later demonstrate these techniques to the trainees. The trainees will later be required to demonstrate the skills that they have learned from their trainers.
Types of media
The type of media that will be used in this training will be both audio-visual and pictorial. The trainers will use audio-visual images depicting the various situations that they will be teaching. The choice of this media is informed by the fact that there are some driving situations that cannot be simulated and hence they can only be taught using this type of media. Charts and photographs will as well be used to present visually those ideas that require visual presentation to enhance the message being communicated.
Learning Principles
The learning principles that form the basis of this training are customer service and safety. The whole training is designed to enable the trainees to develop safety skills as well as good human relations techniques. The limousine business targets a certain class of people of people within the society. The target group is particularly high profile people within the society and so the treatment that they get from both the drivers, as well as the other employees of the company, should uphold their status. This concept is the reason everyone within the company will have to undergo a mandatory training in mannerism and etiquette to enable them to deal effectively with this type of clienteles.
Training for Learning Skills or Facts
The training will be designed to impart learning skills and facts to the trainees. The training for drivers will be designed to equip them with practical skills as well as factual information. For practical skills, the drivers will be taught how to respond to various situations. For actual skills, the drivers, as well as other staff within the company, will be trained on how to relate well with the clients.
Effectiveness of the Methods
The methods chosen for this training and development program are very effective in enhancing learning as they are designed to cater for different learning situations (Training & Development Lead Body,2011). For example, for the type of training that requires skill development, demonstration method is used while for the training that does not require skill development, lecture method id used.
