Body Image, Body Composition, and Sociosexuality. Perspective Taking: Effect of Accessible Cultural Values on Cross-Cultural Differences.

This is what I have presented to my supervising professor, has a starting point to my thesis research proposal, for my master, the research showed be based on media articles and you will need to feel the form mentioned has part of this paper :

Previous research has found that there are cross-cultural differences in personality traits. These personality traits affect sociolsexuality orientation of an individual. Additionally, the personality traits affect one’s body image and body composition. How people respond to different stimuli in the society is highly dependent on their personality traits. One’s image and body composition create the uniqueness of an individual. According to Freud’s theory, the personality development is influenced by instinct and environment during early stages of human growth. Early growth of an individual is greatly influenced by cultural values of the society (Sprecher, Treger & Sakaluk, 2013).

This is a qualitative empirical research that will involve meta-analysis; collect data from media articles, which have been associated with body image in the literature and analyse these; involving studies conducted among members of different cultures to establish factors that shape the sociosexuality orientation of adult humans. The articles that will be included will be those that are conducted in different cultural setups. The research targets the articles that have involved participants aged between 18 and 40 years; they are the most sexually active members of the society and are more concerned with their sexuality. The articles selected will be those published between the years 2007-2015 (Willig, 2013).

The method of data analysis will be Thematic Analysis (TA) that will utilize inductive approach. This will help condense the secondary data collected, establish clear links between the research objectives and the findings and finally develop a framework based on the collected data. This will help identify patterned meaning across the data collected from the articles analyzed (Willig, 2013).

The results can be used in further research for interventions targeting the discourses that surround personality traits of the affected individuals.
