This assignment will require students to write a 2-3 page paper in which they analyze the book (or a section of the book) from a sociological perspective.
This assignment has some latitude (or flexibility) in terms of what is included but at a minimum must include:

A summary of the section/passage/topic of Zeitoun you are analyzing
•
Direct incorporation of ‘other’ course material from text book and other course readings
•
Application of class lecture and class discussion materials.
The main objective of this assignment is to demonstrate to your reader that you can explain/understand/explore the book we have been reading all quarter and connect it to course material. Students are encouraged to use concepts, theories, terms and examples from any or all of the course resources, such as: the Schaefer text, handouts/articles, videos, discussion topics and more. This means that there is an expectation for this paper that you will support your analysis with sociological material and include appropriate references to that material through in-text citations and a Works Cited page. MLA is the preferred style of citations. Please review the inforamation provided through the Sinclair Library for more information about MLA citation guidelines.
The format of your paper should include an introduction, a brief summary (1/2 page or so), and then developed paragraphs in which you apply sociological concepts and theories and use those to analyze the book. Be sure to include a conclusion.
