GUIDE LINES FOR GEOG 1060 POINT PAPERS
The Point Paper should not be any longer then, 5 pages single or double spaced ( if it goes over no problem) and no less then, 3 pages. This would also include any sources and references you have. Font Size no smaller then 10, no greater then, 12.
The paper will follow this format ( The 1st page would typically have name, title, abstract and probably have the start of the main body )

Title: What is your subject ( REMEMBER TOO SELECT FORM THE LIST BELOW)
Main Body: This is where you state your topic and review of related subject material and data. You can include pictures, data and diagrams. You must cite the sources unless you have created the material yourself.
Analysis: What did you find out? In your own words interpret and explain.
Conclusions: After doing the Analysis what impact did it have on you? Did it change your opinion or re-enforce existing believes and possibly what recommendations if any, are you making?
Bibliography: You must use at least 3 sources!!!!!!!!

BEFORE THE POINT PAPERS HAVE BEEN GRADED AND RETURNED WE WILL CONVENE AN OPEN CLASSROOM DISCUSSION SO STUDENTS CAN SHARE THE INFORMATION THEY HAVE RESEARCHED AND CONVEY THEIR IDEAS AND OPINIONS TO THE WHOLE CLASS. It is a great way for all of us to learn from others.

1. What effect does the Sun’s energy have to do with the weather on the Earth? If it does, how does it influence the atmosphere and our day today weather? What are the implications?

2. With all the debate about dependency on Oil, what if any will Solar, Wind, Renewable fuels and or Geothermal going to do for us?
3. What is the future of the Green Industry? What part of the sector do you think will provide the largest benefit to society?
4. Weather is a huge factor in placement and consideration of new energy technology. How do we maintain optimum performance, where do we put these devices? Do we put them in special areas of the country? How do we best use this technology?
(This is meant to be open ended to accommodate the various devices out there)
5. What is the future of Geothermal and Earth Coupling devices? Are these technologies viable and if so how do they work? Are they cost effective and are they sustainable? ( These questions would cover electrical power generation and heating and cooling capabilities)
6. Formulate your own question and topic. You must provide this as part of you Title of your Point Paper.
