Directions for the essay:

Answer one of the questions below. The essay should be no fewer than 1500 words in length (longer is fine, but no less). This essay is now due at end of the 4th week of the course.
You will need to read at least the introduction and first four chapters of “The Very Best Men,” which forms the core material for this midterm. You are encouraged to supplement the material in the first four chapters by material in subsequent chapters, and/or from other sources available on line, or in published works.

You should address ONE of the following THREE questions:
