Personal Statement for Pursuing a Certificate in Public Safety
Once I graduated from high school, it took me quite a while to settle for a specific career path. In fact, I spent my first year of college in search for a certificate program, which would yield me a personal fulfillment and direct my academic goals. At first, there we several areas of study, which appealed to me, but it, took me ages to go through them and internalize which suited me. I learned about public safety, public administration, and public security among other subjects. These introductory classes were of great help to me in my decision-making process. They taught the diversity and dynamic nature of career paths to which I sought to find my passion. These classes informed me quite a lot about the world and led me to understand myself better. I have come to realize that a single class cannot have a life-changing significance to me, but rather a collective learning process from which I can acquire knowledge and transform myself. In additional, I learned that my passion stretches to a variety of subjects, which concern humanity, and the society well being thus quite a directive guide to my career choice. This paper provides awareness, which concludes public safety as being an excellent choice for me.
I have come to appreciate that I enjoy the logistical aspects of ensuring and enhancing public safety in facilities crucial to human life and the world in general (Office, n.d.). Nearly more than half children occupy the world and elderly people of world’s population. These are the most vulnerable people whose well-being or rather safety not guaranteed on their own unless measures are in place via public safety engagements to secure it. For every kind of environment, home, work place, or public facility, there are dangers or rather predisposing factors, which expose people to accidents, injury, or even death. I have learned that it is less likely for an accident to arise in places where public safety is administered to the letter and consistently maintained (Office, n.d.).
During my high school studies, my main passion and involved was in student association leadership to which I was an organizing secretary. I enjoyed the role of organizing the students’ organization officials, planning events, and implementing strategies to improve the welfare of the students in general (Office, n.d.). This role was an overwhelming bright learning opportunity for me and I lasted as a member of the leadership committee until forth form, which marked y climax as the chairperson. My experience in this capacity taught me different aspects of leadership and problem solving approaches. In fact, I learned a critical perspective of problem solution, interpersonal communication. I am currently, writing a public to the university senate to introduce a public safety club in the university (Office, n.d.).
The time I have spent in the university has led me to awakening of my great passion of learning new skills and acquiring knowledge. However, I have come to appreciate that it takes dedication and hard work to achieve professional skills in public safety. My goals for pursuing a certificate in public safety are aligned with my passion for the well being of our society and the world in general. I am aspiring to make a significant contribution in public safety by acquiring a global outlook of the world, learning new leadership skills, strategic planning and risk management as well as public policy. In future, I plan to specialize and further my education in this career path in corporate security. It is my hope that I will be in a position to administer and successfully deliver on projects such as intergovernmental goal orientation, building partnerships in public safety and administration.
In conclusion, the skills am learning in this certificate program will make better at effective communication and strong interpersonal communication skills, thus adding to my skills set and suitability for this career path.
