Climate change, Economy and Human Society
Glaciers have melted, forests have gradual disappeared, animal ranges have shifted due to climate change. Nowadays, our earth is getting warm, although the temperature will rise just few degrees over the next hundred years, however; it is extremely important we should know that small changes could translate to large thing. More and more glaciers are melting which lead to the sea-level rising; those people, who live near the coast, are facing some numerous problems, such as flooding, exacerbated coastal erosion and inundation. A number of people are losing their residence now. In other words, there are a numerous pattern are included in climate, such as, temperature, humidity, seasons, wind and so on. The main function of climate is maintaining the balance of ecosystem. Meanwhile, the economy is developing rapidly, more and more industries are built, which means a number of natural resources are consumed. For instance, deforestation is a significant environmental problem which is caused by over cutting. As we all know that plants can absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, thus, the amount of carbon dioxide becoming larger and the temperature becoming higher. To sum up, the climate is changing everyday, it’s influenced by development of the economy, and everyone is responsible to pay more attention on it.
There is another thing that we have to concern, which is the reason why climate is changing now, and what kinds of aspects could lead to the change become so fast. Actually, the causes of climate change could be separated into two parts which are natural causes and human causes. First of all, for those natural causes, change in solar radiation could impacts on the effect of greenhouse gases which is a decisive factor can cause climate change; also, volcanic activities have relatively effects on climate. However, humans are largely responsible for climate change which is included in human causes. A majority of greenhouse gases are released by human activities, such as, burning fossil fuels, deforestation, develop of modern industry and exhaust gas emission; the mainly gases which are released into atmosphere are from burning coal and oil. What’s more, deforestation also have large negative impacts on environment, there are a million of species would lost their habitats, those animals even cannot survive without habitat and that is why more and more species become extinct; also, there is moisture in forest soil which can protect those trees to avoid become dry because of solar radiation, and it can maintain the water vapour back to atmosphere. Those forest can become to dessert rapidly without trees. Meanwhile, the society has to developing which depends on industries to promote it. In contemporary society, each country is trying to increase the rate of economic development. However, the point is how can we balance the relationship between economy and environment. We have to find a way to maintain the rate economic developing when we pay more attention to protect the natural environment at the same time.
There is a close relationship between the economy, human society and climate change. According to the article “Redefining the Relationship between the Environment, Society and the Economy” (2011), Grossman explained the relationship between the environment, the economy and society clearly. In fact, the economy is included by in human society, which in turns be included in the environment. Human beings need a good living conditions and stable climate in order to developing the economy. Which also means that the environment created a place that society could exist, and human society provides amounts of terms and conditions to support economic activities. In other words, the economy cannot be developed without humanity and people cannot live without natural environment, they are interacting with each other; but, they also could make negative impacts on each other.
“Time for Change” also have reported the significant factor that caused climate change, especially global warming; also, the article also lists some effects of global warming. As we all known, the main reason that climate became warmer is the greenhouse gas concentrations are increasing which contains carbon dioxide, ozone, water vapor and methane. What’s more, because of the burning of fossil fuels, more greenhouse gases are dispersed into the atmosphere. In contemporary society, the concentration of carbon dioxide is dramatically increasing. Those greenhouse gas are coming from industries, motor vehicle exhaust emission and power station. Meanwhile, there are numerous data and figures shows that which parts that the major greenhouse gas emissions come from.
