The Walden Learning Community: Roles and Relationships

Discussion #1:

Walden’s vision, mission, and goals come to life in the day-to-day interactions of the members of the Walden community, a self- described learning community. In this Discussion, you will delve into Walden’s concept of a learning community, who “belongs” to the community, and the roles between and among its members.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Learning Resources for this week.
  • Reflect on who the members are in the Walden learning community. What makes it a learning community?
  • What are the roles of the various members of the community? How do they relate to one another? Include yourself in your thinking.
  • Consider how the university’s core values impact you personally and the community in general.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post a description of the Walden learning community that includes what it is, who its members are, and the roles and relationships within the community. Also explain how the university’s core values impact you as a student and the community in general.

Discussion #2. (1 page).

WaldenUniversity takes the concept of academic integrity quite seriously. As a member of the Walden learning community, you will want to, too.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Walden Catalog Statement on Academic Integrity.
  • Consider the specific meaning and implications of each of the values—honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility—as they relate to your development as a scholar-practitioner who effects social change and to your work at Walden and beyond.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post an explanation of what Walden’s values regarding Academic Integrity mean to you as a developing scholar-practitioner. Then evaluate the impact of these values in terms of how you think they will affect the learning community as well as your work at Walden and beyond.
