Robert is a 46-year-old man with a severe learning disability and an autism spectrum disorder, which affects his social and communication abilities. he has lived in a learning disability care setting all of his adult life. One morning, while he was sitting in the dining room with other residents, Robert began to shout loudly for no apparent reason. He kicked objects around him and displayed challenging behaviour by banging his head against the wall.
