4 textual artifacts

Introduction:
Expectations for academic writing vary depending on the discipline. While some fields focus on empirical, data-based arguments, others prefer analytic and synthetic arguments. Some value numbers, others value logic. For this assignment, you will be gathering, analyzing, and interpreting the types of publications members of your field publish in and what types of arguments are valued in that field using the four rhetorical appeals we reviewed in the first module: ethos, pathos, logos, and kairos.
Assignment:
1. For this assignment you will gather 4 textual artifacts related to your field of study. The artifacts must meet the following conditions:
Each must have been created within the last 5 years
The four artifacts must include at least one scholarly book, one academic journal (you will not be able to check journals out, but many journals are available online), and one \”general audience\” publication related to your field.
2. What an academic discipline values is often reflected in the artifacts it produces, so using the different appeals we\’ve discussed and read about, you will analyze your artifacts and construct an argument concerning what rhetorical appeals your discipline relies on when creating new scholarly knowledge. You might find that different arguments are used for different audience (scholarly vs. general), or that certain aspects of the publications suggest certain values (what can you learn just by looking through the information the publications provide about the publication itself?).
Length: 800words
Style: APA citation format (but the paper need not be formatted as an APA research paper).
