Artists

I will assign each of you one painter from the Post-Impressionist period. I ask that you post a brief discussion of the artist and at least 2 artworks on blackboard, under discussion board. I would prefer that you use powerpoint as this works well for this type of assignment.

First, look at several artworks by this artist by viewing the websites below and/or googling the name (and clicking on images). Next, give some information on the artworks/artist as well as your general impressions of the pieces.

Next, come up with at least two pieces of information (remember, since this is art, there are not necessarily “truths” out there to put on paper) to include. This should be an analysis of a painting; something about the period in general; or something pertinent about the artist (note the word pertinent: I’ll leave it to the person looking at van Gogh to decide if it is pertinent that van Gogh cut off his ear lobe). You MUST have at least 3 slides, two for the artworks, and one for the other information.
