Discuss the predicted impact of your evidenced based solution on the systems success in achieving the goal.

Assignment Question

Based on the system you chose for the Application of User-Centered Design Principles to Selected Poor Design assignment, you will now complete a detailed task analysis (Part One) and provide an evidenced-based solution (Part Two). This assignment can be completed individually or in the same pairing as Application of User- Centered Design Principles to Selected Poor Design assignment. This assignment will consist of two parts. The final assignment is worth a maximum of 40% towards your final grade. Part One. Task Analysis Maximum 20% towards final grade You are required to describe, very specifically, the cognitive, motor and sensory demands on the human factor when interacting with the system during the perception, planning and action phases.

Please apply the Task Analysis methodology discussed throughout the course. For this assignment, the analysis of a very specific system is required. If you are unclear if your system is specific enough, please let me know. This portion of the assignment should be completed in a table format. You will be assessed on explicit application of course content, and degree of specific detail. Once you have completed your task analysis, you are required to explicitly highlight in the table where you perceive the system can longer complete the goal of the task. This will then be the emphasis of your Evidence-based solution. Part One (Task Analysis) of the assignment must not exceed three pages, single spaced and no less than 10 point font (not including references, title page, appendices, etc.).

The task analysis can be organized in landscape format. All in-text referencing and reference page should adhere to the requirements of APA 7th Ed. Content beyond the three page limit for Part 1 will not be assessed. For your assignment, please include the following:

1. Succinct description of your specific system (one – two sentences) 2. Identification of the specific goal of your system (one sentence) 3. Identify the principle (s) of UCD you identified as compromised in your previous Application of User Centered Design Principles paper (identify the UCD principle only, one-two sentences) 4. Task Analysis 5. Identify the location of the human factors issue within your task analysis (e.g. highlight in yellow) (e.g., lack of haptic information in the response execution of the sub-task for pushing the required button results in a failure of bridging execution and evaluation, resulting in a slip error) Part Two. Evidence- based Solution Maximum 20% towards final grade The purpose of Part Two of this paper is for you to provide an evidence-based solution to the identified human factors issue presented in Part One. Your evidence-based solution must explicitly apply: a) course content, b) essential information from Part One of this assignment, c) information from the Application of User-Centered Design Principles to Selected Poor Design assignment, as well as c) peer-reviewed research (Minimum 5 peer reviewed sources) to justify your evidence-based solution. The evidence-based solution section of the paper must include each of the following: Summarize the human factor issue identified in your Tasks Analysis (Part One) and the Application of User-Centered Design Principles to Selected Poor assignment. Identify and justify the component of the system you will be examining to make the design consistent with the principles of user-centered design (e.g. control or display?) Explicit application of course content/ terminology will be assessed; Provide a thorough evidence-based method of addressing the identified human factor issue to make the design consistent with the user-centered design principles (utilize course content and extend with at least 5 relevant peer-reviewed sources based on control or display); Discuss the predicted impact of your evidenced based solution on the systems success in achieving the goal.

Be sure to apply relevant principles of user-centered design, peer- reviewed research and application of course content to substantiate this component of the paper.

5. Personal Reflection.

a) Discuss at least three things you learned about the design of your chosen system and the role of cognitive ergonomics in the design;

b) Discuss what you found challenging about the assignments; c) Discuss whether or not your newly acquired knowledge of cognitive ergonomics has impacted your understanding of systems you interact with on a frequent basis; Part Two (Evidence-based solution) of the assignment should not exceed 6 double-spaced pages, and font no smaller than 10pt and adhere strictly to the citation and reference methods of the publication manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th Ed. Content beyond the 6 double-spaced page limit for Part 2 will not be assessed.
