In this class, I was able to make use of the PICO-T Model Framework to solve my research question. I determined the problem I would be solving by observing practices at my local library, learned how to observe people with a minimum amount of invasion into their experience. My learning about Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle came in handy here because it made me think about how my presence might influence them in various ways and how to minimise this in the later stages of testing my interventions on the population. With this assignment, I practiced being an informed consumer and critic of published research literature, both in print and online. I worked to observe a population and identify their special needs in their information-seeking behavior, formulate a theory based on what I saw, solve that problem, put my ideas into practice, and present my methods and my findings to my colleagues, and field questions from them. This project will help me tremendously in my future career. Not only did it give me the confidence to put my ideas in motion but it gave me the knowledge to back up my passion so I can go about the observation and testing procedures into practice.
