For this project, each student will be writing a paper about the current child labor status of TWO countries. Each student must pick one developed country and one undeveloped country to research. The only country you cannot use is the United States of America. When choosing your country, I highly recommend choosing countries with highly accessible sources of data for your own convenience. Because of this I suggest doing a quick search prior to choosing your countries just to confirm the amount of information you will have available to you. Your analysis of each country must include the following: Country’s Current economic status- This includes the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), GDP Growth, GDP per capita, and share of global GDP. Country’s Current demographic status- This includes current population, projected population changes, percentage of immigrants, ethnical and gender data. Country’s Current educational status- This includes their global educational rankings, their current compulsory educational status, adult literacy rates, and high school completion rates. Country’s Current child labor status- This includes current child labor laws, information regarding minimum wages, number of children ages 5-17 engaged in labor, percentage of children working relative to population, and the leading industries using child labor. An explanation of the country’s relationship to the United States- This includes business relationships, government relationships and the influence of America on this country and its influence on America. For this paper, do not simply answer these questions. The expectation is you will work the answer to these questions into your own original words.
