Paper Instruction
Read and analyze Scenario 4 in the Johnson text (pages 111–112). Provide a recommendation to resolve this ethical challenge. Include the following topics in your recommendation:
Does HR have a moral obligation to urge a company to retain employees who have loyally served the organization?
Should HR consider the public relations impact of firing long-term and loyal employees?
Are there other options beside termination that could be considered? Make some assumptions if you need to.
What about the issue of age discrimination? How should HR weigh this factor in their decision?
The intent of these questions is to generate a meaningful and instructive dialogue on ethical decision-making and the role of HR.
