Write a paper comparing and contrasting serial and mass murderers. Using journal articles, include theory and typologies in your analysis. Multiple definitions of multiple murders have been used by law enforcement, clinicians, academia, and researchers. Multiple murders have been categorized as mass, serial, and spree. Mass murder has been described as a number of murders (chiefly four or more) occurring during the same incident with no distinctive time period between the murders. The events typically involved a single location where the killer murdered a number of victims in an ongoing incident. Serial murder has meant a series of three or more killings, in different locations, with a distinct cooling off period between events; however, the 2005 FBI symposium on serial murder defined it as the unlawful killing of two or more victims by the same offender(s) in separate events. Spree murder had been described as similar to serial murder, but with distinct victims and cooling off period
