Exegetical studies by their nature look for the original meaning of a text. While Isaiah 7 is
clearly applied in the New Testament, this application deals with a context outside that of Isaiah, which would be for another assignment altogether. With this assignment, again, youll want to focus on what Isaiah 7 meant to its original audience. In order to do this, youll have the different
sections of the paper, including the historical context, literary context, the actual commentary, and finally the summary. The exact formatting is included below.
Further, as an academic paper youll need to do research and cite sources. Standard practice is to have as many sources as pages of content. Since your paper needs to be at least 6 pages, youll need to consult and cite at least 3 sources.
I know I said 3 but I actually prefer you try to use more quotes.
In MLA style, referring to the works of others in your text is done by using whats known
as parenthetical citation. Immediately following a quotation from a source or a paraphrase of a sources ideas, you place the authors name followed by a space and the relevant page number(s). For example:
Human beings have been described as symbol-using animals (Burke 3). Your in-text citation, further, will correspond with an entry in your Bibliography page.
