Intelligent Design versus Evolution

The theory based on intelligent design is acceptable than evolution theory. The theory on intelligent design states that life or universe was brought by an intelligent agent. It is not possible for the world to exist by chance. There has to be an intelligent entity who introduced life in the world. The evolution theory explains how life began in different ways. For instance, Darwin’ theory explains all organisms originated from common ancestry and evolved by natural selection. The organisms adapted habitat and traits from their ancestors and transformed to the present day species.

All the theories based on evolution leave many questions unanswered. Some of them are not logical therefore, unreliable. For example, Alexander Oparin’s theory states that life began from the ocean. Molecules containing proteins, starch and nucleic acids, reacted with other gases. This theory was found illogical because proteins cannot form in oceans since they produce water when two molecules bond. Therefore, it is not possible for such a reaction to happen in hydrate environment. The Darwin’s theory would leave people wondering how it could be possible for all organisms to have a common ancestor.

The theory of intelligent design sounds true because it clearly explains the origin of life. It is more acceptable to say life was brought by an intelligent agent. The fact that this agent was intelligent, explains how he or she brought life. Using his intelligence, the agent made life and the different phenomena in the world. This theory relates to religious creation stories and myths. Believers believe there is a powerful supernatural being that created the universe. These people tend to believe in this story because it answers the question of how life began.

Both theories need to be taught in school and the students should be left to determine, which they would believe. People have freedom to conscience and they are entitled to their opinions and views. Teachers should teach all the theories regarding origin of life because students have a right to know them. Educators may think one of the theories is unfounded and it does not deserve to be taught. For instance, some teachers opposed intelligent design theory. This is wrong since no one can prove any of the theories is false or true. This is why the topic on origin of life has remained controversial.

The articles are biased because they do not expound on all aspects of theories on origin of life. They are condemning intelligent design theory by saying it undermines science. The articles should consider the logic behind this theory and evaluate its contribution in explaining the origin of life. These articles are more focused on criticizing this theory than weighing its significance. These articles are not objective and they appear to be an individual’s opinions or view on intelligent design theory. If they were objective, they could be neutral and leave the reader to make his or her decision about the topic.

The topic on origin of life has remained debatable because no one has proven satisfactorily the origin of life. All theories leave people with unanswered questions. Due to this situation, people have taken different turns on their beliefs of the origin of life. Since there is freedom of conscience, people are allowed to believe in any story or theory, which helps them understand their origin in this world. This is why it is important to teach all theories on origin of life and let the students choose their beliefs.
