TERM PAPER: An original research design based on your review of literature (peer reviewed sources) is required to complete this assignment. 10- 15 typed pages, double spaced, 12 font in APA FORMAT.
For the paper you are required to do the following:
1. Select a topic/ subject/ problem / area to be investigated.
• Title of the project
• Introduction- background of the related area Include the setting, preliminary information of the topic and background facts from reliable sources.
• A description of the idea or an explanation of the problem.
• The significance of the study. Why is this study important?
2. Conduct a literature review on the topic/subject/ problem. Use at relevant references from scientific research studies published in reliable sources. Summarize: what is the relationship to your study? Summarize all of the studies as relevant to your study. What are the basic theories relevant to your study?
3. Develop hypotheses. What are the questions you seek to answer?
4. Operationalize the problem and concepts. Make the questions so they can be measured.
5. What are the dependent and independent variables?
6. Propose an appropriate research design. How would you measure and collect data? (qualitative or quantitative basic or applied research)
7. What kind of data collection technique would you use? What kind of statistics would you use? Include sampling techniques –How would you collect your data?
8. What is the population for your study –How would you select a sample?
9. What findings would you expect? How would this research contribute to this area?
10. What would you conclude?
11. Summarize the project and suggest a future study.
*Thus far I have provided you with my proposal, a bibliography with references (that are all obtainable on the internet), as well as corresponding attached files to these sources. SEE BELOW.
Proposal
A. Problem Statement
Police suicide rates have been associated with shift work, inconsistencies in the criminal justice system, alcohol and substance abuse, personal legal troubles, and a negative public image. Alcohol coupled with depression and chronic stress is the most common triad in completed Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) suicides. Another factor may be conflict with the police administration. In addition, some officers may choose suicide to escape from an intolerable or unbearable situation, such as facing prosecution for wrongdoing or public humiliation. Sources report that a LEO is more likely to die by suicide than by homicide. However, these numbers and statistics are extremely difficult to support. Although the exact number of LEOs who take their own lives every year might not be available, it is clear that even a single incident is devastating.
B. Research Question
Can a methodical annual psychological interview of law enforcement professionals be used as an effective risk assessment tool in identifying suicidal ideation in the individual?
C. Hypothesis
A risk assessment through the engagement of an annual psychological interview to law enforcement officers mandated by their respective agency. The context of the annual interview will be reflective of three selected evaluative instruments that are disseminated to the officers by the agency’s selected psychological panel for each calendar year. The psychological panel will be allowed to select the three types of surveys to be distributed. For the purpose of this study I have selected the three types of pencil and paper surveys to be administered: 1) Five Factor Model (evaluates human personality), 2) Alcohol Use Disorders Identifications Test (A.U.D.I.T.- determines alcohol abuse), 3) the Beck Depression Inventory (evaluates depression). However, only one of the three instruments may be selected for removal and replacement annually, when appropriate. The surveys and their results achieved are to remain anonymous but should account for each member of the agency being examined. Upon conducting interviews, panel members should yield a recommendation for fit for duty (meaning that the officer is apparently of sound body and mind) or not fit for duty (meaning that the officer is not qualified to perform his/her job functions) based on the panel member’s evaluation. When a member is not fit for duty, that member will have to continue to meet regularly with his/her assigned panel member (the number of meetings depends on the specific panel member assigned to that officer) until an evaluation of fit for duty is yielded and the officer is allowed to go back to work. If the officer cannot meet the standard of fit for duty based on the panel’s review, he/she will be relieved of his police duties thereof.
I have compiled an outline heading structure to guide you in writing this assignment, THEREFORE FORMAT THE PAPER INTO THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS:
A) Statement of the Problem

Hello, I am requesting that you write this paper according to the attached guideline. THIS IS A RESEARCH PAPER IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE. This paper REQUIRES THAT ALL REFERENCES BE REFERED TO INSIDE OF THE PAPER. I will be supplying exactly twelve references that are peer reviewed (no other sources but peer reviewed references are acceptable SO PLEASE BE SURE TO USE ALL SOURCES AND DO NOT ADD ANY MORE). Understand that I must have these verified references in the paper so please be sure that the sources are easy to recognize and authenticate. This paper will be submitted to TURN IT IN- so please DO NOT PLAGARIZE. If you have any questions, comments, feel free to email me back.
Area of Focus: Research Paper in Police Suicide: Implementation of a program to identify predictors of suicidal thoughts.• 13 pages in length, paginated, and double-spaced. This paper MUST achieve the following:
• Design a study to answer a question or solve a problem.
• Collect data that relate to an area of interest.
• Conduct independent research.
• Judge the quality of research.
• Prepare a research design.
THE MAIN FOCUS OF THIS PAPER IS TO CREATE A NEW PROGRAM THAT WILL ASSIST IN IDENTIFYING SUICIDAL PREDICTORS IN POLICE OFFICERS. See the attached proposal that I have created.
