1. WATCH the movie The Silence of the Lambs (1991).

2. WRITE ABOUT THE FEMININE HERO OF THE MOVIE, CLARICE STARLING, AND HER JOURNEY, AS WELL AS THE NOTIONS OF FEMININITY VS. MASCULINITY YOU FOUND IN THE MOVIE.

3. Starling was sent to live with her uncle on a Montana sheep and horse farm, from which she briefly ran away in horror when she witnessed the lambs being slaughtered (the title of the book refers to her being haunted by the screaming she heard from the lambs). She spends her life trying to “silence the lambs.” From biblical times, lambs have been a symbol of innocence. The victims of the serial killer, Buffalo Bill, are also innocent women who are sheared of their skin, just as lambs are sheared of their wool. Bill made clothes out of their flesh, as we make clothes out of lambs’ wool. Clarice’s dreams of bleating lambs connect her psychologically to Bill. Because as we know, Bill is obsessed by an archetypal lamb: innocent, overweight women. In this way, the story brings up the idea of destiny, making us wonder if Clarice was fated to work on this particular case, and if Bill was destined to meet Clarice. EXPLORE THE THEMES OF FATE VS. DESTINY IN THE MOVIE.

DON’T FORGET TO PROVIDE EXAMPLES FOR EVIDENCE.
