, please offer an analysis of the world experienced by the female characters in A Doll House OR offer an analysis of the world experienced by the male characters in A Doll House. ( I would prefer a female analysis being that I am a female)

some topics you might wish to explore (but are not limited to):

– How do Ibsen’s women (or men) behave in marriage?

– How do women (or men) behave as parents?

– What are female (or male) friendships like in this play?

– How are women (or men) treated by the legal system?

– What is the job market like for women (or men)?

These are topics you could consider discussing, but in writing your paper, you have to form an opinion about the topic. As you probably know, each paragraph should start with a single thesis/opinion statement. Some examples, based on the topics suggested above:

– The society presented in this play does not allow married women to behave as equals in the household.

– In Ibsen’s play, men are put in the position of having to rule the home and be fully responsible for it

– As mothers, women are, for better or worse, largely responsible for the development of the children

– Fathers have little to do with their children at home, but the father’s reputation in society determines the child’s reputation, too.

These are opinions (thesis statements) based on the topics suggested above. You might not agree with them, and that’s fine; there are many other topics and many other opinions to consider. Read the play, determine the topics you want to discuss (parenting, marriage, employment, etc) and offer a thesis/opinion about each of them. Keep in mind, however, that the paper is only 3 pages long, so you won’t have room to discuss everything you can think of.
