Use these resources to do the background reading for your research paper. This background reading does two things: First, it tells you whether there are materials available for your research. Second, it helps you narrow your topic to something more specific. The more specific your topic, the better your research will be! These are the required sources for this assignment. You should be spending lots of time doing this background reading. About 6- 8 hours is a fairly reasonable amount of time. Do not take any specific notes while you are doing this reading. You may, however, wish to take notes about the direction your paper topic seems to be going. You must do the background reading and you must document that reading in a method described below. If you do not signify significant background reading, your topic and hypothesis will not be approved.

E A 250 word summary of the thinking process that you went through in determining your final topic and hypothesis or question that you are going to address in your research. Your topic is your subject; your hypothesis is the question or questions that you are asking about it. It will probably contain a “What” or “Why” or “How.”
