Subject: Ways of selecting a team with whom to work with

I am writing to inform you about my intention on the process that I will use to select two classmates from our class with whom to form a collaborative writing team for working on the selected assignments. Following the class assignments that you gave, I have decided to form a collaborative team but my intention is to inform you on the process that I will use to select my classmates members to work with.

Since the start of this semester, I have been encountering difficulty situations especially with the collaborative team members that I have been working with. Considering the various assignments that we have been doing as a group, many problems have been arising within the groups. The members have been working with have a negative attitudes towards petroleum engineering thus does not work seriously to produce better results. Some members have not been cooperative while others have never contributed to the assignments that we have been doing. Consequently, others have never attended the group assignments in convenient time. Therefore, my purpose of writing this memo is to inform you on the process that I will use to form a collaborative writing team with whom to work with on the assignments you gave us.

The procedure I will use in selecting the two members with whom I will work with will include some of the stages of team development. First, I will use forming method because I want my team to become acquainted with one another. This will help us lay down rules that we will use in achieving our objectives. Secondly, I will use storming techniques because conflicts mostly arise within the groups. Therefore, I will listen and find mutual acceptable resolutions to any problems that may arise within the group. Lastly, I will use the norming method in order to help our team to learn and study the standard of performance that will be used in my group. At this stage, we will have a meeting before we start writing the assignments and discuss on the issues such as production of quality work, time keeping and creation of harmonious relationships within the group.

My objective of selecting the two members from my class is that I wanted to get individuals with whom we can work hard in order to achieve the requirement of the assignments. In addition, my aim was to get a collaborative writing team who are ready to work without causing any problems such as handing in late assignments to you. I choose these members because they have appreciated to work with me in order to produce quality assignments in time. Nevertheless, they are active members in our class they are good performers in the field of petroleum engineering. Am sure if I will work with them, I will be able to improve well on this course of technical and industrial correspondence and report writing.

I have already informed my class members with whom I will work with and they have already agreed to join me in writing the assignments as a team. They have promised that they will cooperate with me in order to produce quality work. I will also ensure that I have achieved my objectives through informing them on the importance of handing in the assignments timely. I will make sure my teams are satisfied especially on the appropriate time and venue where we will meet for our discussions without causing inconveniencies to others.

If this meets your approval, I would appreciate it incase you could permit us to work as a collaborative writing team of the selective members that I have chosen in writing the assignments.
