The two qualities that a project manager should have for this project are good communication skills and excellent negotiation skills. Communication is crucial in order to convey the right message to the team members. It is the role of the project manager to ensure that the message is sent to all the relevant people and is communicated clearly to avoid distortion. To ensure good communication the project manager should plan what to say and which questions to ask during any meeting. The project manager should have the objectives of the project outlined and should seek whether they are understood and their feedback to avoid misinterpretation (Mewes, 2010).

Negotiation is vital in project management because various aspects of the project require discussion and consensus on some issues. These aspects include meeting deadlines, acquiring resources, during change in scope of the project and team players. Through out the project differing perspectives and views are voiced out within the team and must be discussed; hence the project manager must be a good negotiator to lead the team to a consensus.

When negotiating the project manager should always aim to get the best deal out of the discussion, hence the negotiation power should be practiced before hand. The project manager should    obtain the other parties want list in order to understand more and be in a better position to negotiate. Lastly, the project manager should never underestimate the negotiations complexities since the company may end up getting a raw deal (Egeland, 2009).
