Research various media sites and describe two public policy issues that appear to garner the most media attention within the past month (October 21 to November 21). Do you believe the issues focused upon deserve the heightened attention in light of other public policy matters? Why do you believe the media has selected these items to accentuate? Analyze these issues in light of the criteria in Box 5.2, page 188, of the Pal text. This exercise in terms of the “issues” focused on by the media is intended to be broad. Depending on the current topics, past topics could range from alleged police hostility in African American neighborhoods (and/or racial profiling), gay marriage, and gun control in light of mass murders, for example.
