Please kindly refer to the documents that I have attached that are related to this particular assignment. Please have a read of these documents according to these orders so that you will know what will be required in this assignment task. Please have a read of “Assessment Instructions Page 1 & 2″, “Marking Criteria” and ” Black Southerners appeal to President McKinley for Federal Protection, 1898-1900.pdf.” (the primary source I’ve chosen of – Despite this is the shortest, other than doing close analysis of this document, you must strike an appropriate balance between close analysis of the primary source document and discussion of the broader ‘struggle’ by integrating relevant secondary sources together in order to form a strong argument)
Please strictly adhere to the requirements written in “Assessment Instructions Page 1 & 2.” Please bare in mind that for this paper, you have to do analysis rather than summarizing what the source has already been mentioned.
For referencing you are required to use ‘Chicago’ referencing style (no in-text citations or endnotes but footnotes MUST be used). You are also reminded to include the bibliography by the end of the page (don’t forget to properly reference all sources outside of the article and the article itself). The following website is the link for you to access the page that will teach you the correct way of using ‘Chicago’ referencing style for the review so please refer to the link as universities usually adopt different ways with regards of referencing.
You need to reference all the sources you use which includes books, websites and journals etc even if it was taken out from a non-scholarly article.
You should also reference the primary source you’re reviewing.
Chicago – Citing and Referencing – Library guides at Monash
http://guides.lib.monash.edu/citing-referencing/chicago
Please note that google sources such as Wikipedia etc are not academic sources. It is preferable that you use academic books and peer-reviewed journals (in this case I reckon scholarly journals are the most appropriate) as the main sources for referencing work that are relevant.
As for the number of resources, I’ve put down 6 (including the primary source itself). It is HOWEVER ENTIRELY UP TO YOU with regards of the number of sources you want to incorporate as my tutor didn’t set a limit but YOU WILL HAVE TO INCORPORATE SECONDARY SOURCES down to POINT 3, 5 and 7 respectively. Out of all, point 5 is very important so make sure you understand what each question is asking (there are three questions in total).
Please bare in mind it is the quality that matters, not the quantity though you will have to stick with the word limit. Having less or more references doesn’t mean the piece is better or worse, hence the quality is the most important things after all. Last but not least, make sure you’ve satisfied all requirements listed under the box that says “Excellent.” In the “Marking Criteria” when you’re done.
