Analyzing the organization
The use of certain phrases or words to refer to the behavior of other people creates suspicion within the organizations. An organization is where people should work together to achieve organizational goals. The use of events and people kills the moral of the people who is a subject of reference. All employees within an organization must feel needed in order to perform. Cases of employee turnover may result due to continuous use of words and phrases when referring to individuals. Though it can also improve on performance, it is not a policy that should be embraced by the organization on how to deal with employees. Feeling needed in an organization improves performance of an individual employee and hence the realization of overall organizational needs.
Socialization is an important aspect of the recruitment and selection process. An organization has is its own culture. This necessitates the socialization of new members into the organization. Socialization refers to the adaptation of the individual. The individual easily adapts to the culture of an organization if taken through a socialization process. The employee is introduced to employees and how things are done in an organization. The employee learns about their roles, the culture of the organization and the job.
In the socialization process, the employee cross to another culture, there is metamorphosis of the employee. The employee adopts a new culture ( korte, 2007).
Most socialization is informal but formal socialization process can be adopted. One method socialization employees is by organization events. Orientation is a formal method of orientation where the employee is provided with information regarding the organization. This is possible for the small and medium sized organizations. Big organizations may not find this form of socialization beneficial (Ballard and Blessing, pg 240).
The socialization methods are to enable the employee settle with ease into the new job. This is a duty of the Human resource management.
There are beliefs and values held by people in the organization which have an influence in their behavior. Competitiveness, team spirit and innovative spirit are some of the cultures that can exist in an organization. An organization that has competitiveness as culture is likely to have robust and versatile employees. This can be important in achieving organizational goals. An organization built on the culture of innovation is likely to have employees who are always generating new ideas to achieve the goals of the organization (Kaplan, 2013). Better ways of running the organization profitable is developed if the beliefs and values of employees are geared towards innovation.
If the culture of the organization promotes playing “safe” the individuals will be less innovative. Culture, therefore, affects behavior of an individual (Capital, 2012). An organization has team work as its culture develops employees who can only operate in a team. Individualism is sacrificed under such cultures.
Belief in quality is likely to direct employees towards being perfectionists in order to achieve the goals of the organization. The organization belief in continuous improvement will also affect the way employees respond to opportunities presented by the organization. The beliefs and values held in an organization works towards influencing the behavior of an individual. A culture of laxity breeds laxity in the organization. A bad culture affects performance (Moony, 2014). The value placed on team work may affect behavior of individuals negatively because it compromises on accountability in the organization.
