Application of the three sociological paradigms
The course material provided during this semester was designed to facilitate the development of sociological thinking, that is, thinking from a perspective beyond individual choices that incorporates social forces or societal influences in your analysis of outcomes or observed social phenomena. Moreover, the course text has emphasized three major sociological paradigms from which to analyze social phenomena including suicide, social institutions, race/ethnicity, social structures, socialization, groups, class, social stratification, issues related to race, gender and age, social inequality, deviance and others. You are to write a critical analysis of a sociological topic about which you are passionate.
Please, write about slavery as well.
1. Analyze the topic using each of the three sociological paradigms.
2. In your discussion of the topic show that you clearly understand the main points of each theory and how the theories view your topic.
3. Discuss the similarities and or differences of the theoretical approaches when applied to your topic.
Your paper should include sections to introduce the reader to your ideas. Your paper must include between 8 – 10 pages not including title, abstract and reference section :
I. A title page correctly formatted.
II. An abstract (one paragraph)
III. Introduction
IV. Sections related to the theoretical concepts and your topic (about 5 pages)
V. A sections wherein you discuss similarities or differences, and (at least 1 page)
VI. A summary/conclusion (at least 1/2 page)
VII. Reference section using APA formats within the text and at the end of the document (at least 10 references of scholarly journal or books; no newspapers or magazines).
Other points to remember:
• Avoid plagiarism. Plagiarized papers will be given an F grade.
• If three or more consecutive words are used in your paper that are not your own, please enclose these words in quotation marks (“ ”) followed by the author’s name and page number.
• Your paper must be typed, double-spaced, Times Roman, font 12, with 1 inch margins on all sides of the page (top, bottom, right and left).
• The final paper counts toward 30% of your final grade.
• Paper due the day of the final exam
• How you write about an issue is equally if not more important than what you write about.
• Grading will based on content, structure, style, and editing.
• Please use the spell check.
