  1. As parents get ready to send their children off to school they are unaware of one of the dangers that lie ahead of them. Binge drinking is the most serious problem affecting college students today. It has become a social phenomenon.

    1. Binge drinking can be dangerous on many different levels
      1. Researchers found that binge drinking increases risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and other metabolic disorders
      2. One of the most serious risk of binge drinking is alcohol poisoning
    2. Binge drinking increases your risk of accident, injury and becoming the victim of violence
      1. Experts estimate binge drinking on a weekly basis makes you eight times more likely to be in an alcohol related accident or injury
      2. Binge drinking has been directly linked to students’ risk of sexual victimization
  • Mental affects of binge drinking
    1. People who binge drink are more likely to struggle with depression, anxiety and compulsive tendencies
      1. Likely to become alcohol dependent and have other stress-related disorders later in life
      2. Increased risk of addiction to drugs
