Causes Of War

Prompt:What are the primary factors that led to the current crisis in Syria? And, subsequently, what factors must be addressed to attain a peaceful resolution?Instructions:Read the Foreign Affairs article, “How to Stop the Bleeding in Syria,” and then write a response (approximately 3 pages) in which you address the following:- First, use each of the three primary theoretical approaches to International Relations that we have discussed—Neorealism, Neoliberalism, and Constructivism—to briefly answer each of the questions in the prompt.- Second, explain which of the three approaches you find to be the most useful in answering these questions (i.e., demonstrate the relative strength of your chosen approach by contrasting it to the interpretation of events based on the other two approaches). The objective of the assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the causal logic (i.e., assumptions and implications) of each of the three theoretical approaches—not to provide detailed knowledge regarding the Syrian crisis. The Foreign Affairs article should serve as a springboard from which to evaluate the utility of the theories in explaining real world events. No additional research is required.During class, your paper will serve as the basis for your participation in a class discussion. You will be graded on both components—written response and in-class discussion.
