Subject: Character analysis using a character from Poe, Hawthorne, or Melville.
For your final paper, you my use any of the short stories in The Norton Anthology American Literature textbook by Hawthorne, Poe, or the story Bartleby the Scrivener by Melville.
Method: Using your own creativity and imagination, write an analysis of any one of the characters in the stories mentioned above. You must present you analysis in a creative way of your choice, such as from the point of view of a psychiatrist, or another character in the story, or the coroner at the inquest, or a detective or attorney examining a list of witnesses, (or another ide of your choice).
Whatever your point of view, you must analyze the character thoroughly, using quotations, specific examples, and descriptions from the story.
Simply describe the character using an imaginary voice with a few common clinical or legal terms and many examples from the story. You should use words and descriptions of the narrator, the words and thoughts of the character, and/or the reactions of other characters in the story.
