Assignment 3: Literature Review
Literature Review is a coherent essay of a literature review. It will be a review of the literature directly related to the topic or problem under study. The purpose of the literature review is to know what others have discovered before you begin your investigation of your own, to ground your study in a particular context of what is known about a subject in order to establish a foundation for the topic (or question) being researched and develop hypothesis to be tested.
The purpose of this assignment is to facilitate your abilities to research a topic of study so you can learn to (1) identify and formulate an inquiry question that defines what you’d like to learn, (2) know how to search and locate literature (eg. Journal articles) using library and internet resources; (3) analyze information found in educational journal articles, and (4) synthesize new knowledge into a written literature review and (5) establish your hypotheses.
Assignment Description:
For this assignment you are asked to complete a literature review on an educational topic of your choice. You are asked to locate at least 10 scholarly sources on your topic and write a 5 page literature review on the articles youve selected. At the end of your literature review, establish your hypotheses. Include a reference page or bibliography at the end of the document.
Steps to complete your literature review:
1. Choose a topic that you are interested in studying (youve done this in you Introduction draft).
2. Formulate an inquiry question that specifically describes what would like to know about your educational topic (youve done this in you Introduction draft, but you can always refine your inquiry questions after you know more about your area through reading the literature).
3. Go to the library to search for and locate journals that include your topics information (You learned how to do this during the lab).
4. Find articles, read the abstracts and skim the articles to determine if they correspond well to your topic AND inquiry question.
5. Read your articles and begin to sort and classify them according to their findings (you done this in your annotated bibliography).
7. Organize your articles by sorting and classifying their findings in a meaningful way, always considering your original topic and inquiry question.
8. Write an outline for your literature review.
9. Write your review.
10. Revise your review.

Due date: This assignment is due on the 21th of March at 11:00pm on turnitin.com. Late assignments will not be accepted. You must use 10 scholarly sources for this literature review. Make sure you cite (in-text citation) ideas and findings of the literature and then reference those citations in the bibliography.
Grading Rubric:
This assignment is worth 5% of your final grade. Hence, you can get up to 5 points in this assignment. Your assignment will be graded on:
1. Content (up to 2 points)
In a literature review, content is related with your ability to summarize and
synthesize previous works, as well as developing a reasoning or justification for your own research. In other words, based on previous work that contributions is your study going to make? Another important element of content is including/discussion the relevant works and excluding works that are not relevant to your study or question.
2. Organization and Clarity (up to 2 points)
You need to organize your ideas in a logical and coherent manner. It needs to
make sense to other people. Writing an outline detailing the purpose will help you to write paragraphs are that fit logically with the rest of the document. A big component of clarity is writing clear and complete sentences. Go to the writing center and have your work proof-read.
3. Correct use of Citation (1 point)
You need to use correct in-text citation and also cite those in your bibliography
using APA citation format.
