FINAL PAPER ASSIGNMENT
As a reminder, your final paper should be a 7-8 page (not including title page and citations), double spaced paper on one of the following options:
1.An in-depth exploration of a specific co-op or co-operative system and its relevance to contemporary economic, social or ecological concerns.
2.A proposal for a new program or initiative for an existing co-op that will help it serve its members, achieve its mission, or take advantage of an opportunity in the marketplace; or
3.A paper on what you see as the core challenge or opportunity for the co-operative movement as it seeks to be relevant to contemporary issues.
Whatever topic you have chosen to focus on, I’d like to hear whether you think the co-operative model has something to offer to contemporary economic and social concerns. If it does not, how could it better serve these goals? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the model, and how could they be addressed?
Final papers should have a clear thesis and reference course content including readings, class discussion, presentations and videos, as well as other research you may have done as you make your case. In particular, it should be clear that you understand the basic governance structure and operational aspects of co-operative enterprise.
Finally, please pay attention to the mechanics of your paper — spelling, grammar, sentence structure and number of required pages.
