Project B – Contemporary Issues in Interior Design Podcast
The purpose of the INDS 740: Contemporary Issues in Interior Design course is
• to promote design responsibility by examining a variety of issues that currently
challenges the design professions in general, and interior design practice and
education, specifically;
• to provide opportunities for students to develop and express individual thoughts and opinions
about contemporary issues interior designers face; and
• to prepare students for being well informed and active members of the design
community.
In an effort to fulfill these course goals, students are asked to generate a podcast that fulfills the
following objectives:
1. Identifies a contemporary issue relating to the field of Interior Design;
2. Informs and Educates others on the selected class-identified contemporary issue relating
to the field of Interior Design; and
3. Provides students the opportunity to explore and use this contemporary method of
information dissemination.
Students are asked to generate and document the following as part of this project:
• A project plan for generating two 10-15 minute podcasts on selected contemporary issues
relating to the field of Interior Design (50 points possible);
• A completed two 10-15 minute podcasts on the selected contemporary issues relating to the
field of Interior Design (100 points possible each);
• A summary of personal experience generating the podcasts, including justification for
selecting this particular contemporary issue relating to the field of Interior Design, and
opportunities, accomplishments, and challenges in completing the project (one to two
paragraphs, 50 points possible).
Assignment points will be granted for professionalism and organization of project plan, conveyed
knowledge of the topic, execution and generation of podcast, written and graphic presentation of
summary), and fulfillment of assignment requirements.
