Project Seven:
Create a Webpage about WRIT 112

Your goal in this assignment is to create a webpage that introduces and examines your experience related to WRIT 112. This is an opportunity to focus on yourself as a writer and reflect on your unique writing process during the course.

On your webpage, present your self-reflection on writing in two or more of these means:
• As a video (perhaps made with your phone)
• As an audio file
• As photographs or other images
• As a document

These multimodal possibilities are meant to encourage you to be creative as well as self-critical.
But remember that your webpage most include 750 words of text or writing.

Conceptual Content: Self-Reflection

The content for this assignment is self-reflective thinking as it relates to writing. Self-reflective thinking means that you may do any of the following:
• Critique your own writing processes and improve them as a result of the critique
• Sincerely describe changing your writing processes through critical thought or developed self-awareness
• Cast back into the past to explain a present change in terms of writing development or practice
• Use course content as the catalyst for self-reflection in relation to topic: evidence of using the writing process for the discovery of new ideas
• Apply self-criticism or criticism from others to actually change your writing process

Here is a list of questions that may help you begin:
• Have you changed any of your writing practices because of your experiences in this course?
• How did you respond to constructive criticism from your instructor, peer reviewers, or TWC coach?
• How did the writing process function as a form of “discovery of new ideas” in this course?
• How have your writing skills improved over the course of the semester?
• How has your newly improved writing process influenced writing assignments outside of your WRIT course?

Formal Content

For this assignment, you need to meet (and exceed) these minimum requirements:
• Create a self-reflective analysis in one of the formats listed above. In your discussion, make sure you refer explicitly to your written work in the course, citing it by assignment, title, and/or, where relevant, page or paragraph number. Whether written or spoken, your analysis should be at least 750 words long.
• Write text for your webpage that interconnects your multimodal content. For example, since a video is not self-explanatory until it is viewed, it benefits from the provision of a caption or context.
• Design your webpage giving attention to graphic design elements such as fonts, colors, headings, etc.
• Present a portfolio of all your major writing assignments. Include any other writing to which you refer in your self-reflection.

Process

There are several ways in which you might present your self-reflective analysis.

One, of course, is to create a 750-word text that captures and defines your self-reflection.
After creating the text, consider how you can use visuals to support and enhance it. These visuals may be taken from image databases, such as Wikimedia and Getty Images, or you may create them. Some examples are graphs charting your performance in the class, photos of your writing environment, images of the types of documents produced in your field of study/employment, and photos of persons, places, or objects that have served as an educational/professional inspiration to you. You might even include images that figuratively represent your relationship with the written word.

Another option for presenting your analysis is to embed a video or narrated slideshow rather than relying on a typed, essay-like analysis. However, make sure that you bear the word count in mind. Your narration should provide depth of insight and rigorous examination of your work.
Whatever you choose, make sure you address the content delineated in the Conceptual and Formal Content sections above.

Finally, create your portfolio by embedding pdfs of all the major papers assigned in this course as well as of any other of your class writings that you refer to in your self-reflective analysis.

Submit your work by providing me with a link to your webpage.

Creating the Webpage
You will need to choose a web host. If you already have a website of your own, you can add a private page to it. Otherwise, pick a free webpage creation and hosting service such as moonfruit (http://www.moonfruit.com/) or weebly (http://www.weebly.com/start/). Such sites also offer tips on best practices for webpage creation.
