Connecting families and classroom is an important part of schooling . i have to be responsible for creating one literacy bag for a specific grade level. it can be based on a theme using several books or based on one book. Activities can cover one content or several .Please no worksheet unless it is something you have created and leads to collaboration within the family . The bag and pencil wii be included for my convenience .All materials i provide will be returned to me although pictures will be taken of the contents of each for future references.
Rubric:
1-Literature selection : 2-4 books selected ; theme evident and manageable; evidence of thoughts on diversity ,cross curriculum and multiculturalism; developmentally appropriate
2- (4) or more activités included ;;little reliance on worksheet materials ;all materials supplied and well organized ;inclusion of activities that show regard for learning styles and multiple intelligences ;manipulative are not so small as to create safety problems ,enjoyable ;interactive ;promotes language and conversation between child and family member.
3- Letter to family is thoughtful ,colorful and easily understood. No formatting problems .
Activies list reflects reading and writing across the curriculum (cross curricular ).
List of supplies for follow-up activities included (so i can see what needs to be re-suppiled or what has not been returned)
parents evaluation form included.
4- Much creativity exhibited ;appealing to student and family.
