Critically analyze a Political Policy in the USA and its impact. (Marijuana)

I will upload lecture slides on “Theories of the policy process in the USA”. These notes/slides will help the writer apply the Drug “Marijuana Policy” process in the essay, SLIDE-6. I would like the 3,000 word essay to be written in this structure: An introduction with no more than 300 words. A 400 words paragraph describing the current Marijuana policy e.g. what are the different aspects of the policy? Is it funded from the gov. or the healthcare? for medical use ? etc…

The rest of the essay body 2,000 words, (Critically evaluate the impact of the US constitution on Modern American politics, institutions and processes) Link the Marijuana policy back to the relevant constitutional backgrounds, both in the original constitution and how it has developed since. Talk about relevant court cases/amendments. Critically discuss to what extent the constitution has an impact here.

(Critically appraise the role various formal political actors play in how the policy is formulated and delivered). Who are the formal political actors involved in this policy? What role do they play? What impact do they have? Are some more important than others?

(Critically evaluate the role interests groups; the media, big business and other non-governmental actors play in Marijuana policy creation). Who are the informal actors involved in this policy? What role do they play? What impact do they have? Are some more important than others? ((How do the formal and informal actors interact with both each other and the major institution of the US government?))

Identify relevant theories from the literature and apply them to the issue at hand. Critically discuss where theories, theorist and ideas conflict. Critique ideas and theories as long as you can support this with evidence. What is the social, political and economic impact of this policy? Have you recognised the fact that the impact can occur in many different ways and can change over time?
