Assessment Method Component Type Assessment Descriptor Duration/ length of assessment Assessment Weighting
Written Coursework Critical essay 3000 –3500 words 100%

The assessment for this module is a critical essay of between 3000 and 3500 words in length. You should select material from throughout the module, and should discuss your plans with one of the module tutors at an early stage to ensure that your focus is appropriate and sufficiently critical. You must use module concepts and texts as a foundation for your work.

“Critically discuss the extent to which the rise of knowledge workers might be seen to undermine traditional approaches to organisational change”.

The Critical Essay requires you to discuss ideas, concepts, theories, frameworks, techniques and research findings, as appropriate. This is an in depth, critical piece of work so you should not spend time describing theories of change. You need to show:

 An understanding of the relevant conceptual and theoretical literature;
 A robust debate and critique of theoretical frameworks and their relevance
 The ability to produce a coherent answer underpinned by theory and the development of logical arguments
 Good use of relevant academic journals
Submission date: 15th May 2015

In exceptional circumstances, if you are unable to meet this deadline you may apply for an extension. The Module leader can provide UPTO 2 weeks, but you need to discuss your case with her, along with the explanation as to why the deadline cannot be met, and provide any documentary evidence as necessary- before 8th May 2015.
