Critically evaluate the physiological and/or biomechanical basis of advanced training methods within strength and conditioning and the implications that it has for programme design.

Coursework Title: Development of an applied strength and conditioning intervention involving needs analysis, programme prescription and justification (3000 words)

Hand in Date: 15th January 2016

You will carry out a needs analysis for the sport of Lacrosse. You will be provided with a set of physiological data collected from the Lacrosse squad prior to the start of pre season. You will provide examples of training sessions and justification of these over a period of 3 months. The 3 months period will start from the first day of preseason. The preseason phase lasts for 6 weeks. You will also be provided with a match schedule for the first 3 months of the season.

Needs analysis
The needs analysis will be in the form of a table(s). The needs analysis will include an analysis of the demands of the sport and a kinesiological analysis along with an analysis of the physiological data that is supplied. This will be accompanied by a justification. You should refer to information from appropriate reference sources in the justification.

Training Intervention
Students will devise an appropriate training intervention that covers all areas of strength and conditioning the exercises plan will be based on the needs analysis and ‘results’ from the physiological tests. Pre-season lasts for 6 weeks The last two weeks of the preseason will have friendly match (see match schedule at the end of this document). The exercise plan will be in the form of a table(s)/diagram(s) and will cover three month of training. This must be justified with reference to appropriate information sources.

Marking scheme
The marking scheme used for the coursework is given at the end of this document. Read this carefully before you start work.
