Cultural Relativism presents a problem within ethical theory. While we recognize that cultures often do have different ethical values, we still want to say that some fundamental ethic values are universal and are not relative to one’s culture. Might the claims regarding intuitionism and prima facie ethical duties help to explain why different cultures have different ethical practices while still holding to the belief that there are some fundamental universal ethical beliefs?
