Cain’s Double Indemnity is one of the classics of hardboiled crime fiction. It also supplied the story for one of the essential film noirs, Billy Wilder’s Double Indemnity (1944). In a short reaction paper (4-5 pages) describe how the film adapts the novel. Be sure to describe the voice of the narrator—his “voice-over” narration set the pattern for noir storytelling. Although the names are changed, the film is basically faithful to the novel until the ending. Describe the ending of the novel and how the film changes it.
